another tale of an unreliable contractor

Our contractor, who was referred to us by friends, is supposedly reliable and trustworthy. Now, he may be trustworthy but he was supposed to start last Monday... and I am still phone stalking him with no response. Looks like our bathroom is going to continue to sit, naked, for a few more weeks while we line up another contractor. Sigh. Oh well. Let me share some pics of what I've been doing in the meantime...

I had been hanging on to a tiny swatch of fabric that I fell in love with months ago, so I finally went out and bought it. If you can use your imagination, this is the fabric, and below, the headboard. We are going to use a local upholsterer instead of making it ourselves because I am not confident we could do the nailhead detail, etc. without it looking sloppy. It is our master bedroom after all : )
And... I painted the bathroom vanity. I think it will add a nice little punch to our bathroom. The color is breezy by Sherwin Williams.

Our boatload of grasscloth. Patiently waiting to be hung. I saved about $60 a double roll by ordering it online versus at the local design store. I guess I'm more supportive of my wallet than the local economy... : ) Here is some before pics of our foyer...

I'll leave you with some pictures of the last bit of demo... hopefully soon I will have new bathroom pics to post.

  1. I am so sorry to hear about the unreliable contractor who stood you up. As they say, “different folks, different strokes.” It is always wise to seek a reliable contractor; a company that has been around for a decade is a good bet. You are rest assured that they already know what most clients want in a renovation. Providing good quality materials are a plus factor. If they have been out in the ball game for a decade means they have tried and tested almost everything. It’s been years since this post, I hope that the renovation went well. :-)
